KIEV UKRAINE
The history of Kiev started in the mid 9 th century. Kiev has always been the capital of Kievan Rus. It was subjected of repeated destructive raids, it attempted to conquer by the Mongol-Tatars, to conquer by the Polish-Lithuanian state. After Ukraine and Russia unification since 1708 Kiev became the center of Kiev province. In the Soviet period Kiev was the capital of USSR, and now, Kiev is the capital of an independent state Ukraine.
Modern Kiev is one of Europe's largest cities, the administrative, economic, scientific, cultural and educational center of the country. The territorial structure of Kiev is represented by two major parts - the right bank of the Dnieper (the old downtown and encircles center semicircle areas of later development) and Left Bank (which recently became the part of city, mainly during the second half of the XX century). Kiev is one of the greenest cities in the world. There are more than 60 parks, lindens and chestnuts are blooming on Kive streets
Kiev is an ancient center of Slavic peoples. It was founded by a Slavic prince Kiy and by his two brothers and a sister. It was first mentioned in chronicles in 860. Since 1991 Kiev is the capital of independent Ukraine.
Sightseeings: St. Sophia's Cathedral, Vladimir Cathedral, Kiev-Pecherskaya Lavra, Golden Gates, St. Andrew's Church, museum of Chernobyl, World War II museum, Pirogovo museum, renovated Independence Square and many others, which are concentrated in Kyiv and in the surrounding areas of Ukraine.
